What is the purpose of a consultation?

In-person consultations are a fun, effective way for me to learn about you as a person and understand the possibilities and restraints of your property.

Sometimes we use the time to brainstorm immediate solutions, but often it's spent working out a high level plan for the first year of working together. This is also time for you to chat with an expert about anything you’ve been wondering about!

By the end of our time together, I will have a clear understanding of how I can best support your dreams and put together a tailored proposal.

How long will it last?

Typically a consult lasts an hour - but they can be 45 minutes if know exactly what you need, or an hour and a half if your property or ideas are complex. I don’t bill by the minute!

DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANYTHING?

Every property is different. Half of my clients have a very good idea of what they’re hoping for - the other half have NO idea, they just know their space is wasted and not bringing them joy!

The best thing you can prepare is an answer to the question, “How do you want to feel when you’re outside?” Peaceful, zen, cheerful, playful, productive, part of a larger ecosystem, like an urban farmer, like an experimental florist, like a visitor at an elegant retreat, like a tourist in a garden. There are no wrong answers.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

My consultation fee is $85, payable by Venmo, Zelle, Cash or Check.

• What kind of goals do you have for your property?

• What is your desired level of maintenance, care & learning?

• Are there current spaces you want to expand, add, or shrink?

• How the individual or family plans to interact with the space; if plant toxicity to animals or children is a sensitivity

• How involved you want to be in implementation; if you prefer collaborative build or if you want turnkey installation 

• Your site’s sun, moisture, grading, etc

• Timelines and budgets
